The Department for Social Development makes the following Order, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 73(1) and (2) of The Private Tenancies (Northern Ireland) Order 2006(1):
1. This Order may be cited as The Rent Book (Savings) Order (Northern Ireland) 2007 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2007.
2. The repeal of Parts IV to VII of the Rent Order by Article 75 of and Schedule 5 to the Private Tenancies (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 shall not affect Articles 38 and 39 of the Rent Order or any regulations made under Articles 38(2) and 74(1) of the Rent Order in so far as those provisions apply to tenancies granted prior to 1st April 2007.

This Order makes a savings provision in connection with the coming into operation of the Private Tenancies (Northern Ireland) Order 2006. Where a tenancy was granted prior to 1st April 2007, the provisions of the Rent (Northern Ireland) Order 1978 in relation to rent books and any regulations made under those provisions shall continue to apply to such tenancies.
