The Department of the Environment makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 50(3)(c) and 129(1) of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991[1]. Citation, commencement and interpretation 1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Planning (Conservation Areas) (Consultation) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 31st July 2006. (2) In these Regulations "Department" means the Department of the Environment. Consultation 2. Before making, varying or cancelling a conservation area designation under Article 50 of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 the Department shall consult with the Department for Regional Development. (This note is not part of the Regulations) The purpose of these Regulations is to prescribe the bodies the Department shall consult for the purposes of Article 50(3)(c) of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 before making, varying or cancelling a conservation area designation. The body so prescribed is, for the purposes of these Regulations, the Department for Regional Development.
