JUSTICE

The Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2002

  Made 9th October 2002 

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 87 of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002[1], hereby makes the following Order:

     1. This Order may be cited as the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2002.

    
2. The provisions of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 specified in the Schedule to this Order shall come into operation on 15th October 2002.

SCHEDULE

PROVISIONS OF THE JUSTICE (NORTHERN IRELAND) ACT 2002 COMING INTO OPERATION ON 15th OCTOBER 2002

Schedule 12, paragraph 53(1) to the extent that it relates to sub-paragraph 2, paragraph 53(2) and paragraph 74 Minor and consequential amendments
Schedule 13 -     
in the entry in respect of the Promissory Oaths Act 1868[2], the repeals of sections 4 and 6 and the repeal of the entry relating to Ireland in the Second Part of the Schedule; Repeals
in the entry in respect of the County Courts Act (Northern Ireland) 1959[3], the repeal of section 105(3); in the entry in respect of the Magistrates' Courts Act (Northern Ireland) 1964[4], the repeals of sections 7 and 9(2);     
in the entry in respect of the Children and Young Persons Act (Northern Ireland) 1968[5], the repeal of paragraph 2 of Schedule 2;     
in the entry in respect of the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978[6], the repeal of section 13 to the extent that it relates to section 13(2), (3), (4) and (5), the repeal of section 99(1), the repeals relating to Schedules 2 and 3 and the repeal of Schedule 5 to the extent that it relates to section 2(3) of the Coroners Act (Northern Ireland) 1959[7], section 105(3) of the County Courts Act (Northern Ireland) 1959, section 7 of the Magistrates' Courts Act (Northern Ireland) 1964 and paragraph 2(2) of Schedule 2 to the Children and Young Persons Act (Northern Ireland) 1968; and in the entry in respect of the Welfare Reform and Pensions Order 1999[8], the repeal relating to Article 40(2).     



EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)


This Commencement Order, which is the first to be made under the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002, brings into operation on 15th October 2002 those provisions of the Act set out in the Schedule to the Order.
