PENSIONS; FAMILY LAW

The Welfare Reform and Pensions (1999 Order) (Commencement No. 5) Order (Northern Ireland) 2000

  Made 27th May 2000 

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the power conferred upon him by Article 1(3) of the Welfare Reform and Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 1999[1], hereby makes the following Order:

Citation
     1. This Order may be cited as the Welfare Reform and Pensions (1999 Order) (Commencement No. 5) Order (Northern Ireland) 2000.

Appointed day
    
2. The following provisions of the Welfare Reform and Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 shall come into operation on 1st December 2000: - 

    (a) Articles 18, 19 and 20;

    (b) Article 74(1) so far as relating to paragraphs 1 to 3 and 52 of Schedule 9;

    (c) Article 75(3) and (4);

    (d) Article 76 so far as relating to the entries in Part II of Schedule 10;

    (e) Schedules 3 and 4;

    (f) paragraphs 1 to 3 and 52 of Schedule 9; and

    (g) the entries in Part II of Schedule 10.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)


This Order provides for the coming into operation of the following provisions of the Welfare Reform and Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 on 1st December 2000: - 

    Article 20 (which amends Part IV of the Matrimonial and Family Proceedings (Northern Ireland) Order 1989);

    Article 75(3) and (4) (transitional provisions);

    Schedule 3, with Article 18 (which gives it effect);

    Schedule 4, with Article 19 (which gives it effect);

    paragraphs 1 to 3 and 52 of Schedule 9, and Article 74(1) so far as it relates to those paragraphs; and

    the entries in Part II of Schedule 10 (repeals in respect of the Matrimonial Causes (Northern Ireland) Order 1978 and the Matrimonial and Family Proceedings (Northern Ireland) Order 1989).

The following provisions of the Welfare Reform and Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 have been brought into operation by -
