The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 65(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981[1] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Bye-Laws: Citation and commencement 1. These Bye-Laws may be cited as the Motor Hackney Carriage (Newry) (Amendment) Bye-Laws (Northern Ireland) 2000 and shall come into operation on 7th July 2000. Bye-Laws amended 2. For the Schedule to the Bye-Laws made in respect of Motor Hackney Carriages standing or plying for hire by the Urban District Council of Newry on 8th April 1968 and confirmed by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 25th April 1968[2] there shall be substituted -
(This note is not part of the Bye-Laws.) These Bye-Laws amend the Bye-Laws relating to Motor Hackney Carriages standing or plying for hire made by Newry Urban District Council on 8th April 1968 by reducing the number of taxi stands in Merchants Quay from 8 to 4. The Motor Hackney Carriage (Newry) (Amendment) Bye-Laws (Northern Ireland) 1983 are revoked as a consequence of these Bye-Laws.
