In column (2) of items 26 and 47 of Schedule 1 to the Road Traffic (Fixed Penalty) (Offences) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997[2] the words "except when the offence is committed by the holder of a temporarily restricted licence during a period of restriction" shall be deleted. (This note is not part of the Order.) This Order reflects the repeal of Article 57(3)(b) of the Road Traffic Offenders (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 by amending the Road Traffic (Fixed Penalty) (Offences) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 (the 1997 Order). The Order removes the exceptions in items 26 and 47 of Schedule 1 to the 1997 Order. The effect of the amendment is that offences of contravention of a speed limit and the carriage of more than one passenger on a motorcycle during a period of restriction are fixed penalty offences.
