DISABLED PERSONS

The Disability Discrimination Code of Practice (Goods, Facilities, Services and Premises) Order (Northern Ireland) 1999

  Made 15th July 1999 

The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 52(8) and (11) of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995[1] and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation
     1. This Order may be cited as The Disability Discrimination Code of Practice (Goods, Facilities, Services and Premises) Order (Northern Ireland) 1999.

Code of Practice
    
2. The day appointed for the coming into force of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 Code of Practice on the Rights of Access to Goods, Facilities, Services and Premises (ISBN 0 337 08453 X), issued by the Department of Health and Social Services under section 51(2) of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995[2] on 14th July 1999, is 1st October 1999.

Revocation
     3. The Code of Practice on the Rights of Access to Goods, Facilities, Services and Premises (ISBN 0 337 37109 1) referred to in the Disability Discrimination Code of Practice (Goods, Facilities, Services and Premises) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996[3] is revoked with effect from 1st October 1999.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)


This Order appoints 1st October 1999 as the date on which the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 Code of Practice on the Rights of Access to Goods, Facilities, Services and Premises, issued by the Department of Health and Social Services on 14th July 1999 ("the new code"), shall come into force. It also revokes the Code of Practice of the same title, issued by the Department of Health and Social Services on 2nd December 1996, on the 1st October 1999.

The new Code may be obtained from The Stationery Office Bookshop, 16 Arthur Street, Belfast BT1 4GD.
