EDUCATION

Education (Assessment Arrangements for Key Stage 3) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 1999

  Made 11th May 1999 
  Coming into operation 9th June 1999 

The Department of Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 7(1)(b), (2)(a)(ii), (6) and (7) of the Education Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 1989[1] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
     1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Assessment Arrangements for Key Stage 3) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 1999 and shall come into operation on 9th June 1999.

Amendment of the Education (Assessment Arrangements for Key Stage 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997
    
2. In Article 4 of the Education (Assessment Arrangements for Key Stage 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997[2] for the definition of "the Assessment Document" there shall be substituted the following definition - 

      " "the Assessment Document" means a document entitled "Assessment Arrangements in Key Stage 3", prepared by the Northern Ireland Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment, approved by the Department and published by the Council;".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)


This Order amends the Education (Assessment Arrangements for Key Stage 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997.

It amends the definition of "the Assessment Document" to provide for the detailed arrangements for the assessment of pupils in Key Stage 3 to be prescribed in a document prepared and published by the Northern Ireland Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment.
