SEX DISCRIMINATION

Sex Discrimination Code of Practice (Recruitment and Selection) (Appointed Day) Order (Northern Ireland) 1998

  Made 26th June 1998 
  Coming into operation 3rd August 1998 

The Department of Economic Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 56A(7) of the Sex Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 1976[1] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

     1. This Order may be cited as the Sex Discrimination Code of Practice (Recruitment and Selection) (Appointed Day) Order (Northern Ireland) 1998.

Code of Practice
    
2. The Department of Economic Development hereby appoints 3rd August 1998 as the day on which there shall come into effect the Code of Practice for Removing Sex Bias from Recruitment and Selection, issued by the Commission under Article 56A(5) of the Sex Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 1976 on 22nd February 1995.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)


This Order appoints 3rd August 1998 as the date upon which the Code of Practice for Removing Sex Bias from Recruitment and Selection, issued by the Equal Opportunities Commission for Northern Ireland under Article 56A of the Sex Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 1976 shall come into effect.

Under Article 56A(9) of that Order the Code can be admitted in evidence in any proceedings before an industrial tribunal or a county court and if any provision of it appears to the tribunal or court to be relevant to any question arising in the proceedings it shall be taken into account in determining the question.
