EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES The Driving Licences (Community Driving Licence) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997
The Department of the Environment, being a Department designated[1] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[2] in relation to the licensing of drivers of motor vehicles, in exercise of the powers conferred by that section, and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Driving Licences (Community Driving Licence) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997. (2) Regulations 1, 2 and 4, and Schedule 2, shall come into operation on 30th June 1997. (3) Regulation 3 and Schedule 1 shall come into operation on 1st September 1997.
2. The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954[3] shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
3. The Road Traffic Offenders (Northern Ireland) Order 1996[4] shall have effect with the amendments set out in Schedule 1.
4. The Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981[5] and the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995[6] shall have effect with the minor amendments set out in Schedule 2.
