PHARMACY

Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (General) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996

Made 7th May 1996
Coming into operation 1st June 1996


    The Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 5 of the Pharmacy (Northern Ireland) Order 1976[1] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, with the approval of the Department of Health and Social Services, hereby makes the following Regulations:—
    Citation, commencement and interpretation
        1.—(1)  These Regulations may be cited as the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (General) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 1st June 1996.

        (2)  In these Regulations the "principal regulations" means the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1994[2].
    Amendment of the principal Regulations
        2.    In regulation 2 of the principal regulations (registration fees) for "£90·00" there shall be substituted "£100" and for "£5·00" there shall be substituted "£10".
        3.    In regulation 3 of the principal regulations (restoration fees) for "£30·00" there shall be substituted "£50".
        4.    In regulation 4 of the principal regulations (retention fees):—
       (a) in paragraph (1)(a) for "£90·00" there shall be substituted "£100";
       (b) in paragraph (1)(c) for "£5·00" there shall be substituted "£10";
       (c) in paragraph (2)(a) for "£40·00" there shall be substituted "£45";
       (d) in paragraph (2)(b) for "£40·00" there shall be substituted "£45";
       (e) in paragraph (2)(c) for "£15·00" there shall be substituted "£20".
        5.    In regulation 5 of the principal regulations (Penalty):—
       (a) in paragraph (a) for "£25·00" there shall be substituted "£50";
       (b) in paragraph (c) for "£5·00" there shall be substituted "£10".
        6.    In regulation 6 of the principal regulations (further certificate) for "£1·00" shall be substituted "£5".
    Revocation
        7.    Regulations 4(1)(b) and 5(b) of the principal regulations shall be revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)
    These Regulations amend the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1994 (S.R. 1994 No. 202) by increasing fees payable in respect of:—
      (a) registration as a pharmaceutical chemist and as a student (regulation 2);
      (b) restoration of a person's name to the register (regulation 3);
      (c) retention fees payable in respect of members of the Society (regulation 4);
      (d) penalty for default in payment of the retention fee (regulation 5);
      (e) issue of a further certificate of registration where original certificate is lost or destroyed (regulation 6).
