FISHERIES

Fisheries (Licence Duties) Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 1996

Made 19th November 1996
Coming into operation 1st January 1997


    The Fisheries Conservancy Board for Northern Ireland in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Sections 26(1), 114(1)(b) and 115(1)(b) of the Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1966[1] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf with the approval of the Department of Agriculture hereby makes the following Byelaws:—
    Citation and commencement
        1.    These Byelaws may be cited as the Fisheries (Licence Duties) Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1997.
    Substitution
        2.    There shall be substituted for Schedule 1 to the Fisheries Consolidated and Amendment Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 1989[2] the following Schedule:

      Part I

      Licences to fish with rod and line and hand line
      Fishing Licence Duty £
      Season game fishing rod licence 18·85
      Eight day game fishing rod licence 9·35
      One day game fishing rod licence 3·35
      Additional amount payable by the holder of a Foyle Fisheries Commission season game fishing rod licence to use a single game rod 15·00
      Season coarse fishing rod licence 7·20
      Eight day coarse fishing rod licence 3·60
      Three day coarse fishing rod licence for use only by the holder of a three day coarse fishing permit issued by the Department of Agriculture to fish in waters in which that Department has the fishing rights 1·55

    Revocation
        3.    The Fisheries (Licence Duties) Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 1995[3] are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Byelaws.)

    These Byelaws further amend the Fisheries Consolidated and Amendment Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 1989 to increase the licence duties payable from 1st January 1997 for fishing with rod and line and hand line for salmon and freshwater fish and for commercial fishing engines used for the taking of salmon and freshwater fish other than eels together with the fee payable for a licence which authorises the holder to buy and sell salmon, trout and eels. The new licence fee rates are set out below:—
