ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Large Goods and Passenger-Carrying Vehicles) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996

Made 17th July 1996
Coming into operation 2nd September 1996


    The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 13(1) and 218(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981[1] and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, and in accordance with Article 19C(3) of that Order with the approval of the Department of Finance and Personnel, hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Large Goods and Passenger-Carrying Vehicles) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 2nd September 1996.
    Amendment of the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Large Goods and Passenger-Carrying Vehicles) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1991
        2.    For Schedule 3 to the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Large Goods and Passenger-Carrying Vehicles) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1991[2] there shall be substituted—

      24·00

            5.    A full licence for a large goods vehicle or a passenger carrying vehicle where the applicant has been granted a provisional licence for that category
      Nil

            6.    A duplicate licence
      12·00

            7.    Issue of a licence following the expiration of a period of disqualification for holding or obtaining a large goods vehicle or passenger-carrying vehicle licence (unless no fee is payable)
      12·00

            8.    A licence granted under Article 15(8) of the Order (unless no fee is payable)
      12·00

            9.    Removal of endorsements
      12·00

            10.    Issue of a large goods vehicle or a passenger-carrying vehicle full licence on addition of ‘E' entitlement
      12·00

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

    These Regulations further amend the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Large Goods and Passenger-Carrying Vehicles) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1991 by amending the fees payable for driving licences for large goods and passenger-carrying vehicles as follows—

      (a)  a provisional licence for a large goods vehicle, from £15·00 to £24·00;

      (b)  a full licence for a large goods vehicle, from £10·00 to £24·00;

      (c)  a provisional licence for a passenger-carrying vehicle, from £22·50 to £24·00;

      (d)  a full licence for a passenger-carrying vehicle (including a restricted pcv licence), from £22·50 to £24·00;

      (e)  a duplicate licence, from £6·00 to £12·00;

      (f)  the issue of a licence following the expiration of a period of disqualification for holding or obtaining a licence (unless no fee is payable), from £6·00 to £12·00;

      (g)  a replacement licence (unless no fee is payable), from £6·00 to £12·00;

      (h)  removal of endorsements from a licence, from £5·00 to £12·00; and

      (i)  addition of category ‘E' to a licence, from £5·00 to £12·00.

    Conversion from a provisional licence to a full licence remains free of charge.
