The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1968(1) and now vested in him.

In accordance with section 2(1) of that Act, the Secretary of State has consulted those persons appearing to him to represent interests with which these Regulations are concerned as he considered appropriate.

In accordance with section 2(3) of that Act, a draft of this instrument has been laid before Parliament and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.

Title, commencement and application

1.  These Regulations—

(a) may be cited as the Welfare of Animals (Miscellaneous Revocations) (England) Regulations 2007;

(b) come into force on 6th April 2007;

(c) apply in England only.

Revocations

2.  The instruments described in the first and second columns of the Schedule are revoked to the extent described in the third column of the Schedule.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations revoke the provisions specified in the Schedule, as a consequence of the replacement of their substance in the Mutilations (Permitted Procedures) (England) Regulations 2007.

No regulatory impact assessment has been prepared for these Regulations. A regulatory impact assessment for the Mutilations (Permitted Procedures) (England) Regulations 2007 has been prepared and placed in the library of each House of Parliament; copies can be obtained from the Animal Welfare Division, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, 1A Page Street, London SW1P 4PQ.
