The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 44(3)(b) of the Electoral Administration Act 2006(1) makes the following Order.
1. This Order may be cited as the Representation of the People (National Assembly for Wales) (Relevant Registration Officer) Order 2007 and shall come into force on 1st May 2007.
2. Where an election to the National Assembly for Wales(2) is held in respect of an electoral area comprising any part of the area of more than one local authority, the relevant registration officer shall be the office holder designated in column 2 of the Schedule to this Order and shall carry out this function in relation to the electoral area shown opposite in column 1.

1. The Electoral Administration Act (c.22) 2006, s42, created new rights to inspect and obtain copies of certain categories of election documents, subject to conditions set out in regulations. In Wales the relevant regulations are the Representation of the People (National Assembly for Wales)(Access to Election Documents) Regulations 2007 (SI 2007/1368).
2. The officer responsible for possession of the documents and for making them available for inspection or supplying copies is the relevant registration officer. Where an electoral area is comprised of parts of more than one local authority area, the Secretary of State is responsible for appointing the relevant registration officer to carry out the functions imposed by s42 and the regulations made under s42(8).
3. In Wales, the Secretary of State has appointed, as relevant registration officers those persons listed in column 2 of the Schedule to this Order who will act in relation to the corresponding electoral area shown in column 1.
