The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 16(1) of the Compensation Act 2006(1):
1. This Order may be cited as the Compensation Act 2006 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2007.
2. In this Order, “the Act” means the Compensation Act 2006.
3. The following provisions of the Act come into force on 23rd January 2007—
(a) section 12;
(b) subsections (1), (3) and (4) of section 13.

The Compensation Act 2006 received Royal Assent on 25th July 2006. Certain provisions (sections 1, 2, 16, 17 and 18) commenced on Royal Assent. Section 3 is taken always to have had effect. Certain other provisions (mentioned in the following note) commenced on 1st December 2006. This Order brings into force the provisions necessary to establish and operate the Claims Management Services Tribunal. It is intended that the remaining provisions (mostly, those creating offences) will be brought into force within the next few months.
