The Treasury make the following order, exercising the powers conferred on them by sections 100A(1); 100A(3) and 100A(4)(b) of the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979[1]: Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Free Zone Designations (Amendments) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 1st August 2006 Amendments 2. —(1) For paragraph (2) of Article 2 of each of the Free Zone (Southampton) Designation Order 2001[2], the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation Order 2001[3], the Free Zone (Prestwick Airport) Designation Order 2001[4], the Free Zone (Port of Tilbury) Designation Order 2002[5], the Free Zone (Port of Sheerness) Designation Order 2004[6], substitute—

—(1) For Article 3 of each of the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation Order 2001 and the Free Zone (Port of Sheerness) Designation Order 2004 substitute—
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order amends the free zone designation orders in respect of the free zones at Southampton, Liverpool, Prestwick Airport, Port of Tilbury and Port of Sheerness by removing, in each case, the obligation upon the Commissioners for Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs[7], to keep the free zone maps at New King's Beam House. It maintains the obligation of the responsible authority, in each case, to keep a copy of the map. The maps are held by the Commissioners' Frontiers Unit at Portcullis House, 27 Victoria Avenue, Southend-on Sea, SS2 6AL and are available for inspection, on application, during normal office hours. In addition, this Order amends the free zone designation orders in respect of the free zones at Liverpool and Sheerness by updating the details of the responsible authority. No regulatory impact assessment has been produced for this Order as it has no impact on the costs of businesses, charities or voluntary bodies. Section 50(1) of that Act provides that a reference to the Commissioners of Customs and Excise shall be taken as a reference to the Commissioners for Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs.back
