The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 40(2) to (4) and (9) of the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 2006[1], makes the following Order: Citation and interpretation 1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2006. (2) In this Order—
Provisions coming into force on the commencement date (This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings provisions of the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 2006 ("the Act") into force on 30th May 2006 ("the commencement date"). Article 1 provides that the Order may be cited as the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2006 and defines two terms used in the Order. Article 2 brings the following provisions of the Act into force on the commencement date:
Article 3 brings the following provisions of the Act into force on the commencement date except so far as they extend to Scotland:
Article 4(1) brings section 36(3)(b) of the Act into force on the commencement date. This is subject to paragraphs (2) and (3) of article 4 which provide that:
