The Secretary of State for Education and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 67(2) of the Children Act 2004[1], makes the following Order: Citation and interpretation 1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Children Act 2004 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2006. (2) In this Order "the Act" means the Children Act 2004. Provisions coming into force 2. The following provisions of the Act shall come into force on 1st April 2006—
(b) section 56 (social services functions) so far as it relates to sections 13 to 16 of the Act.
(This note is not part of the Order) This is the ninth Commencement Order made under the Children Act 2004 ("the Act"). It brings fully into force on 1st April 2006 sections 13 to 16 of the Act which are concerned with the establishment by each children's services authority in England of a Local Safeguarding Children Board for their area. Section 56 adds functions relating to Local Safeguarding Children Boards in England to the list of functions which are social services functions in the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970. (This note is not part of the Order) The following provisions of the Act have been, or will be, brought into force by Commencement Orders made before the date of this Order—
