The Secretary of State for Education and Skills makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 28 and 29(1)(b) of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992[1]. 1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Designated Institutions in Further Education) (Amendment) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 31st March 2006. 2. The Education (Designated Institutions in Further Education) Order 1993[2] is amended as follows—
(b) In Schedule 1, omit "Workers' Educational Association, London E2".
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order amends the Education (Designated Institutions in Further Education) Order 1993, by removing the Workers' Educational Association from the scope of that Order. It should be read in conjunction with the Workers' Educational Association (Designated Institution in Further Education) Order 2006 (S.I. 2006/409), which redesignates the reconstituted institution for the purposes of section 28 of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992. Notes: [1] 1992 c.13; section 28(1) was amended by section 143(1)(a) of the Learning and Skills Act 2000 (c.21) and section 28(2)(a) was amended by the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (c. 31), Schedule 30, paragraphs 33 and 38.
