We, the Church Commissioners for England, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 53(1) of the Pastoral Measure 1983[1], as amended by the Pastoral (Amendment) Measure 1994[2], hereby make the following Order: Interpretation 1. In this Order "the Trust" means the Churches Conservation Trust, "the Commissioners" means the Church Commissioners, "the 1983 Measure" means the Pastoral Measure 1983 and "the funding period" means the period specified in paragraph 2 below. Funding period for Part III of 1983 Measure 2. The funding period for the purposes of Part III of the 1983 Measure shall be the period beginning with 1st April 2006 and ending with 31st March 2009. Payments to the Trust 3. —(1) In respect of the funding period the total amount of grants to be made by the Commissioners under section 44(10) of the 1983 Measure shall not exceed £3,948,000. (2) In respect of the funding period, the maximum amount of the payments to be made to the Trust under section 52 of the 1983 Measure[3] out of the remaining one–third of the net proceeds and net premiums referred to in that section shall be £1,000,000 and any such payments shall be applied towards the sum specified in sub–paragraph (1) above. (3) In respect of the funding period, and subject to paragraph 4 below, the balance of the sum specified in sub–paragraph (1) above shall be paid to the Trust in such amounts as the Commissioners shall determine—
(b) by way of grants by the Commissioners under section 44(10) of the 1983 Measure.
Condition for payments to the Trust (This note is not part of the Order) This Order provides, in respect of the period from 1st April 2006 to 31st March 2009, for sums to be paid to the Churches Conservation Trust up to a total of £3,948,000 either out of the net proceeds of sale or exchange of redundant churches or of land occupied by them or net premiums for the grant of leases of such churches or land or by way of grant from the Church Commissioners.
