Their Lordships, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Them by section 2(6) and (7) of the Dentists Act 1984[1], and of all other powers enabling Them in that behalf, are pleased to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the General Dental Council (Constitution of Committees) Amendment Order of Council 2003 and shall come into force on 1st January 2004. Amendment of the General Dental Council (Constitution of Committees) Order of Council 2003 2. - (1) The General Dental Council (Constitution of Committees) Order of Council 2003[2] shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this article. (2) In article 1(2) (citation, commencement and interpretation), in the definition of "fitness to practise function" there shall be inserted, after "Professional Conduct Committee", ", the Continuing Professional Development Committee". (3) In article 2(1) (re-constitution of the General Dental Council's Committees), after sub-paragraph (c), "and" shall be omitted and, at the end, there shall be added the following -
(4) At the end there shall be added a new article 7 as follows -
7. The membership of the Continuing Professional Development Committee shall consist of five appropriate persons, of whom at least two shall be registered dentists and at least two shall be lay persons.".
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order amends the General Dental Council (Constitution of Committees) Order 2003 so as to provide for the constitution of a new fifth statutory Committee of the General Dental Council, the Continuing Professional Development Committee.
