Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament and approved by resolution of each House: Now, therefore, the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by section 56(7) of the Communications Act 2003[1], hereby makes the following Order: - Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Telephone Number Exclusion (Domain Names and Internet Addresses) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 29th December 2003. Exclusion 2. Any number which is used as -
(b) an internet address; or (c) an address or identifier incorporating either an internet domain name or an internet address, including an email address,
shall be excluded from treatment as a telephone number for the purposes of Chapter 1 of Part 2 of the Communications Act 2003. (This note is not part of the Order) This Order excludes domain names, internet addresses and any other address or identifier incorporating either of them from treatment as telephone numbers under Chapter 1 of Part 2 (networks and services) of the Communications Act 2003.
