Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by each House of Parliament; Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1 of the Extradition Act 2003[1], hereby makes the following Order: 1. This Order may be cited as the Extradition Act 2003 (Designation of Part 1 Territories) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 1st January 2004. 2. - (1) The territories set out in paragraph (2) are hereby designated for the purposes of Part 1 of the Extradition Act 2003. (2) Those territories are -
Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden.
(This note is not part of the Order) Part 1 of the Extradition Act 2003 introduces new extradition procedures. These procedures include a new statutory appeal process and a reduced involvement of the Secretary of State.
