The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10, 12 and 41 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: 1. This Order may be cited as the A1 Trunk Road (Long Bennington (Southbound Slip Road) and Detrunking) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 12th September 2003. 2. In this Order -
(ii) "the plan" means the plan numbered HA10/OD/430, marked "The A1 Trunk Road (Long Bennington (Southbound Slip Road) and Detrunking) Order 2003.", Signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at DfT, Records Management Branch, Ashdown House, Seddlescombe Road North, St. Leonards on Sea, East Sussex TN37 7GA; (iii) "the slip road" means the slip road which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Order; (iv) "the trunk road" means the A1 Trunk Road.

From the date on which this Order comes into force the slip road shall become a trunk road.
(b) where the highway is not so maintainable and is not maintainable under a special enactment or by reason of tenure, enclosure or prescription, the Secretary of State shall be under no duty to maintain the part in question,
until, in either case, a date to be specified in a notice given by the Secretary of State to the highway authority for that highway. The date specified will not be later than the date on which the relevant route is opened for traffic. The route of the slip road is from a point 21 metres east of the northern corner of Field OS 0940 to a point 31 metres southeast of the southeast corner of that field, all in the County of Lincolnshire and is approximately 0.18 kilometres in length. The centre line of the slip road is indicated by a heavy black line on the plan The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated at Main Road, Long Bennington, in the County of Lincolnshire from a point 22 metres southeast of the northeast corner of Field 0940 to a point 200 metres southeast of that point and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan.
