      FAMILY PROCEEDINGS, ENGLAND AND WALES

      The Children (Allocation of Proceedings) (Amendment) Order 2003

        Made 17th February 2003 
        Laid before Parliament 20th February 2003 
        Coming into force 1st April 2003 

      The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by Part I of Schedule 11 to the Children Act 1989[1], makes the following Order:

      Citation and commencement
           1. This Order may be cited as the Children (Allocation of Proceedings) (Amendment) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 1st April 2003.

      Amendments to the Children (Allocation of Proceedings) Order 1991
          
      2. In the section headed "South Eastern Circuit" in Schedule 2 to the Children (Allocation of Proceedings) Order 1991[2] - 

        (a) omit the entry for the petty sessions area of Beccles;

        (b) in the entry for the petty sessions area of Cambridge in column (ii), for "Peterborough County Court" substitute "Cambridge County Court";

        (c) after the entry for the petty sessions area of Eastbourne insert - 

        "East Cambridgeshire Cambridge County Court";

        (d) omit the entry for the petty sessions area of Ely;

        (e) for the entry for the petty sessions area of Felixstowe substitute - 

        "Fenland Peterborough County Court";

        (f) after the entry for the petty sessions area of Hastings insert - 

        "Haverhill and Sudbury Ipswich County Court";

        (g) for the entry for the petty sessions area of Huntingdon substitute - 

        "Huntingdonshire Peterborough County Court";

        (h) omit the entries for the petty sessions areas of Ipswich, Lowestoft and Mildenhall;

        (i) for the entry for the petty sessions area of Newmarket substitute - 

        "North East Suffolk Ipswich County Court";

        (j) for the entry for the petty sessions area of North Witchford substitute - 

        "North West Suffolk Ipswich County Court";

        (k) omit the entry for the petty sessions area of Risbridge;

        (l) for the entry for the petty sessions area of St Edmundsbury substitute - 

        "St Edmundsbury and Stowmarket Ipswich County Court";

        (m) omit the entry for the petty sessions area of Saxmundham;

        (n) after the entry for the petty sessions area of Slough insert - 

        "South East Suffolk Ipswich County Court"; and

        (o) omit the entries for the petty sessions areas of Stow, Sudbury and Cosford, Toseland, Wisbech and Woodbridge.

      EXPLANATORY NOTE

      (This note is not part of the Order)


      This Order makes amendments to Schedule 2 to the Children (Allocation of Proceedings) Order 1991 (S.I. 1991/1677), which allocates care centres to petty sessions areas grouped according to circuit. The amendments make Cambridge County Court a care centre with effect from 1st April 2003.
