The First Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 143(1) and paragraph 2(3)(b) of Schedule 6 to the Local Government Finance Act 1988[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order: Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Rating Lists (Valuation Date) (England) Order 2003, and shall come into force on 17th March 2003. Valuation Date 2. 1st April 2003 is specified under paragraph 2(3)(b) of Schedule 6 (non-domestic rating: valuation) to the Local Government Finance Act 1988 as the day by reference to which the rateable values of non-domestic hereditaments are to be determined for the purposes of the local and central non-domestic rating lists which are to be compiled for England on 1st April 2005. Revocation 3. The Rating Lists (Valuation Date) Order 1998[2] is revoked. Signed by authority of the First Secretary of State Nick Raynsford Minister of State, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister 19th February 2003 (This note is not part of the Order) Non-domestic rating lists for the purposes of Part III of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 are, by virtue of sections 41(2) and 52(2) of that Act, to be compiled on 1st April in every fifth year after 1990. Article 2 of this Order provides for 1st April 2003 to be the day by reference to which valuations of non-domestic hereditaments are to be determined for the purposes of the lists to be compiled for England on 1st April 2005. Article 3 revokes the Rating Lists (Valuation Date) Order 1998. Notes: [1] 1988 c. 41.
