Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 2003

By the Lords of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council

The Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons having made the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 2002 set out in the Schedule to this Order under section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966[1] and such Regulations not having effect unless approved by the Privy Council under section 25(1) of the Act, Their Lordships, having considered the Regulations, order as follows:

     1. This Order may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 2003 and shall come into force on 1st April 2003.

    
2. The Regulations set out in the Schedule are approved.

    
3. The Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 2001[2] is revoked.

SCHEDULE

THE VETERINARY SURGEONS AND VETERINARY PRACTITIONERS REGISTRATION (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2002


The Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in exercise of its powers under section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, hereby make the following Regulations.

These Regulations may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 2002.

The Schedule (Table of Fees Payable) to the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 2001[
3] shall be replaced by the following - 


Table of Fees Payable with Effect from 1st April 2003
Regulation Amount Payable
1. Regulation 15 (Registration Fee) £240 (Previously £230)
2. Regulation 17 (Retention Fee)     
(i) for a veterinary surgeon practising or gainfully employed in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, unless (iii) below applies £217 (Previously £208)
(ii) for a veterinary surgeon practising or gainfully employed outside the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, unless (iii) below applies £108 (Previously £83)
(iii) for a veterinary surgeon or veterinary practitioner who declares in writing to the Registrar that he or she has retired from practice or gainful employment by reason of ill-health, parenthood, family commitments or such other circumstances as may be acceptable to the Council or that he or she has reached the age of 60 years and has retired from practice and all gainful employment of a veterinary nature £35 (Previously £20)
(iv) for a person registered in the supplementary veterinary register under section 6 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1948 £27
(v) for a person registered in the supplementary veterinary register under section 8 of the Act £13
3. Regulation 20 (restoration to register) £108 (Previously £22)
4. Regulation 20 (restoration to supplemental veterinary register) £15
5. Regulation 21 (temporary registration) £228 (Previously £220)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


The Regulations approved by this Order amend the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 2001. They increase, from 1st April 2003, the fees payable for the registration and annual retention of names on the Registers of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
