[2] 1996 c. 16. Section 29 of the 1996 Act requires a member of a police force or special constable for a police area to be attested as a constable by making a declaration in the form set out in Schedule 4 to the Act. Schedule 4 is substituted by section 83 of the Police Reform Act 2002 (c. 30).back

[3] The term "police area" has the meaning ascribed to it in section 101 of the Police Act 1996 by virtue of Schedule 1 to the Interpretation Act 1978 (c. 30).back
