The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 105(2) and 108(3) and (7) of the Local Government Act 2000[1] hereby makes the following Order: Citation and application 1. - (1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 2000 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2002. (2) This Order applies in relation to England and to police authorities in Wales[2]. Provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 coming into force on 27th July 2002 2. The following provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 shall come into force on 27th July 2002 -
(b) in Schedule 6 the repeal of -
(ii) in section 16(1)(a) of the Audit Commission Act 1998[4], the words "or 18"; (iii) section 17(1)(b) of that Act and "and" preceding it; (iv) in section 17(2) of that Act, the words "subject to subsection (3)" and paragraphs (a) and (b) and the word "and" following paragraph (b); (v) section 17(3), (5)(b), (7) and (8) of that Act; and (vi) section 18[5] of that Act.
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into force further provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 relating to the repeal of surcharge. (This note is not part of the Order) The following provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 have been brought into force by commencement orders made before the date of this Order. Many of the provisions of that Act came into force on 28th July 2001 in accordance with section 108(4).
