The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:
1. This Order may be cited as the A452 Trunk Road (B5011 Ogley Road Junction To The A4041 Queslett Road East/B4138 Thornhill Road Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 17th May 2002.
2. In this Order -
-
(i) "the plan" means the plan folio numbered HA 10/OD/425 consisting of sheet 1 and marked "The A452 Trunk Road (B5011 Ogley Road Junction To The A4041 Queslett Road East/B4138 Thornhill Road Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2002" signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions and deposited at DTLR Records Management Branch, Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex, TN37 7GA;
(ii) "principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principle road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principle roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and
(iii) "the trunk road" means the A452 Trunk Road.
3.
The length of the trunk road route described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Order comes into force.

The Length of the Trunk Road ceasing to be a trunk road is the A452, commonly known as High Street Brownhills, Chester Road and Old Chester Road at various points. It is situated between Brownhills and Streetly, in Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council and Birmingham City Council and starts from the southern boundary of its junction with the B5011 Ogley Road, Brownhills (marked "A" on the plan) and continuing in a southerly direction and terminating at the southern boundary of the A4041 Queslett Road East/B4138 Thornhill Road roundabout, Streetly, including the circulatory carriageway (marked "B" on the plan). It is shown by broad black dashes on the plan, a distance of approximately 9.68 kilometres in length.
