The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 42A(3)(c) of the Local Government Finance Act 1988[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order: - Citation, commencement, extent and interpretation 1. - (1) This Order, which extends to England only, may be cited as the Non-Domestic Rating (Designation of Rural Areas) (England) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 31st December 2001. (2) In this Order:
(ii) the areas shown cross-hatched on the map bounded externally by the outer edge of a black line,
excluding, in each case, any part or parts of the areas which are designated as rural areas under -

This order designates further areas in England only, in addition to those designated by S.I. 1997/2792, S.I. 1998/393, S.I. 1998/2836 and S.I. 1999/3158. This order provides for all of England outside of the local authority areas listed in the Schedule and the urban areas shown on the maps to be designated as a rural area. The maps referred to in Article 1 of the Order may be inspected during normal office hours at the Department for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, Eland House, Bressenden Place, London SW1E 5DU.
