The Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2001

The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 302(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 3rd December 2001.

Amendment of the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1996
    
2. The Schedule to the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1996[2] shall be amended as follows.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations further amend the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1996 (S.I. 1996/3243)

The Regulations prescribe changes in some of the fees charged and introduce new fees. In particular - 

    (1) the hourly rate for fees relating to services listed in Part I of the Schedule has been increased from £72 to £74;

    (2) fees in connection with tonnage measurements are to be charged at the hourly rate for services in Part I of the Schedule (£74);5

    (3) revised fees have been introduced in relation to the services listed in Parts II to XIII.

The principal changes to the fees charged are shown in the following table:
