In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Skills hereby makes the following Order: 1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Funding for Teacher Training) Designation Order 2001 and shall come into force on 11th October 2001. 2. The institutions and bodies referred to in the Schedule are hereby designated as institutions eligible for funding under Part I of the Education Act 1994. Stephen Timms Minister of State, Department for Education and Skills 20th September 2001 Bracknell Forest Borough Council Council of the City of Westminster Harrow London Borough Council Kingston upon Thames Royal Borough Council Lewisham Borough Council Portsmouth City Council Southampton City Council Telford and Wrekin Council Waltham Forest London Borough Council (This note is not part of the Order) This Order, which comes into force on 11th October 2001 is made under section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994. It designates Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Council of the City of Westminster, Harrow London Borough Council, Kingston upon Thames Royal Borough Council, Lewisham Borough Council, Portsmouth City Council, Southampton City Council, Telford and Wrekin Council and Waltham Forest London Borough Council as institutions eligible for funding under Part I of the Education Act 1994. As a result of this Order, the Teacher Training Agency may make grants, loans or other payments in respect of expenditure incurred or to be incurred by the designated institutions for the purposes of the provision of teacher training and the provision of facilities, and the carrying on of other activities, which the institutions consider it necessary or desirable to provide or carry on for the purpose of or in connection with the provision of teacher training.
