EDUCATION, ENGLAND

The North Somerset Education Action Zone (Extension) Order 2001

  Made 3rd August 2001 
  Laid before Parliament 9th August 2001 
  Coming into force 1st September 2001 

Whereas an application for the purpose of extending and varying an education action zone has been made to the Secretary of State with the consent of the governing bodies of every school participating in the zone.

     Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 10(2), and 138(7) of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Skills hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
     1. This Order shall be cited as the North Somerset Education Action Zone (Extension) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st September 2001.

Interpretation
    
2. In this Order - 

Extension of the North Somerset Education Action Zone
     3. The North Somerset Education Action Zone is extended for a further period of two years beginning with 1st September 2001.

Variation of the North Somerset Education Action Zone Order 1999
    
4. There shall be inserted after article 9 of the North Somerset Education Action Zone Order 1998 the following article:

     5.  - (1) The North Somerset Education Action Zone Order 1998[3] is varied as follows:

    (2) In Schedule 1 of that Order the words, "Nord Anglia Plc", "Learning Partnership West", "TLO Ltd", "Bromcom Computers plc", "Tesco Stores Ltd", "Rathbone CI", "YMCA", "Springboard Opportunity Group", "North Somerset Early Years Partnership", and "University of Bath" are deleted.

    (3) The following words are added to Schedule 1 after "Bath Spa University College"; "Connexions West of England", "Alvis Brothers", "Weston and Somerset Mercury", "Rathbone Training", "North Somerset Childcare Partnership", "Weston-super-Mare Civic Society", "North Somerset Play Forum", "Priory Community School", "Reading is Fundamental", "Weston and Worle Tenants Group", "Activ Sports West Partnership", "Whitecross Village Community Association", "Community Groups Forum", "The Bristol Port Company", "Asda" and "Promethean Ltd".

    (4) In Schedule 2 of that Order the words "Inclusion Support Service South" are substituted for the words "Links Centre", and the words "Corpus Christi Catholic School" are substituted for "Corpus Christi RC Primary School".

    (5) In Schedule 2 the words "Oldmixon Primary School" are substituted for "Climixon Infant School".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order extends the North Somerset Education Action Zone for a further period of two years. It also varies the partners in the zone and gives the Forum an additional power to remove its members in certain circumstances.
