Whereas a draft of these Regulations has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament; And whereas the Secretary of State has, in accordance with section 7(1) and (2)(e) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000[1] consulted the Electoral Commission about these Regulations; Now, therefore, the Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred on her by the provisions which are specified in the Schedule to these Regulations, and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations: Citation, commencement and extent 1. - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Representation of the People (Scotland) (Amendment) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which they are made. (2) These Regulations shall extend to Scotland only. Amendment of the Representation of the People (Scotland) Regulations 2001 2. The Representation of the People (Scotland) Regulations 2001[2] shall be amended as follows. 3. In regulation 3(1) (interpretation), for the definition of "data" substitute-

These Regulations are made under the following powers:
(b) having regard to the definition of "prescribed" in section 202(1) of the 1983 Act and paragraph 1(2) of Schedule 4 to the Representation of the People Act 2000, paragraph 3(2)(c) of that Schedule.
(This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations amend the Representation of the People (Scotland) Regulations 2001. They ensure that the provisions empowering the supply of copies of the register under regulation 47 extend to providing copies of any revised versions of the register and of notices published by registration officers in between the annual revision of the register. This is consequential on the introduction of the rolling register. The instrument also contains other minor corrections to the Regulations.
