The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 118(1) and (4) to (6) and 122 of the Care Standards Act 2000[1], and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order: Citation, interpretation and extent 1. - (1) This Order may be cited as the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 6) (England) Order 2001. (2) In this Order references to sections and Schedules are references to sections of, and Schedules to the Care Standards Act 2000. (3) This Order extends to England only. Appointed Day 2. - (1) The day appointed for the coming into force of paragraph 6 of Schedule 1 in so far as it relates to the General Social Care Council, and section 54(6) in so far as it relates to that paragraph, is 10th April 2001; (2) 7th May 2001 is the day appointed for the coming into force of -
(ii) Schedule 1, paragraphs 1 to 5, 7, 8, 12 to 14, 16 and 18 to 26 and section 54(6) in so far as it relates to those paragraphs; (iii) for the purpose only of the exercise of any power to make rules and preparing codes of practice, sections 59, 60, 62, 63, 65, 66 and 71;
(b) section 55 (interpretation), in so far as it relates to those provisions.
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order provides for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Care Standards Act 2000 (c.14) in so far as they relate to the General Social Care Council -
(b) section 54(1)(a), (4), (5) and (7) on 7th May 2001; (c) Schedule 1, paragraphs 1 to 5, 7, 8, 12 to 14, 16, and 18 to 26 and section 54(6) in so far as it relates to them, on 7th May 2001; (d) sections 59, 60, 62, 63, 65, 66 and 71 on 7th May 2001, but only for the purposes of making rules and preparing codes of practice.
Section 55 (interpretation) in so far as it relates to those provisions is also commenced on 7th May 2001. (This note is not part of the Order) The provisions of the Care Standards Act 2000 listed below have been brought into force in relation to England and Wales by the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2000 (S.I. 2000/2544 (C.72)) and in relation to England by -
the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 2 (England) and Transitional Provisions) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/290 (C.17)); the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 3) (England) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/731) (C.26); the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 4) (England) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/952) (C.35); the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 5) (England) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/1210) (C.41).
Certain provisions have been brought into force in relation to Wales alone by the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 1) (Wales) Order 2000 (S.I. 2000/2992) (W.192) (C.93) and by the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No. 2 and Transitional Provisions) (Wales) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/139) (W.5) (C.7).
