HIGHWAYS, ENGLAND AND WALES

The A638 Trunk Road (North of Doncaster, St Mary's To Redhouse) (Detrunking) Order 2001

  Made 5th March 2001 
  Coming into force 1st April 2001 

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf.

     1. This Order may be cited as the A638 Trunk Road (North of Doncaster, St Mary's to Redhouse) (Detrunking) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st April 2001.

    
2. In this Order - 

      (i) "the plan" means the plan numbered HA10/PS/212 marked "The A638 Trunk Road (North of Doncaster, St Mary's to Redhouse) (Detrunking) Order 2001", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St. Leonards-on-Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA;

      (ii) "principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State;

      (iii) "the trunk road" means the A638 Trunk Road.

     3. The length of the trunk road described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which this Order comes into force.

    
4. The length of the trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be unclassified from the date on which this Order comes into force.

SCHEDULE 1

LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD


The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between the northbound exit/entry slip roads to the A1, at Redhouse (marked "A" on the plan) and the old County Borough Boundary north of Doncaster (marked "B" on the plan) a total distance of 8.6km, all in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster. That length is shown by broad black dashes on the plan.



SCHEDULE 2

LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD


The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated beween a point 10 metres north-west of its junction with Northfield Road (marked "D" on the plan) for a total distance of 40 metres to a point (marked "C" on the plan) in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster. That length is shown by broad black dashes on the plan.
