The National Health Service (General Dental Services) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2001

  Coming into force 1st April 2001 

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 15(1), 35(1), 36(1) and 126(4) of the National Health Service Act 1977[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations - 

Citation, commencement and extent
     1.  - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 1st April 2001.

    (2) These Regulations extend to England only.

Amendment of the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Regulations 1992
    
2. The National Health Service (General Dental Services) Regulations 1992[2] shall be amended in accordance with regulation 3 of these Regulations.

Amendment of Schedule 4
     3. In Part II of Schedule 4 (prior approval treatment), in each of paragraphs 1 and 2, for "£230" there shall be substituted "£260".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


Regulation 3 amends Schedule 4 to the 1992 Regulations to increase from £230 to £260 the amount specified as the maximum cost, or likely cost, of care and treatment which a dentist may undertake without seeking the prior approval of the Dental Practice Board.

These Regulations impose no costs on business.

The functions of the Secretary of State for Health under the National Health Service Act 1977 are, so far as exercisable in relation to Wales, transferred to the National Assembly for Wales by article 2(a) of the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999, S.I. 1999/672 as amended by section 66(5) of the Health Act 1999 (c. 8).back
