The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 108(5) and (7) of the Local Government Act 2000[1], hereby makes the following Order: Citation, interpretation and application 1. - (1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 2000 (Commencement No. 6) Order 2001. (2) In this Order references to sections are references to sections of the Local Government Act 2000. (3) This Order applies in relation to England only. Provisions coming into force on 19th February 2001 2. The following provisions shall come into force on 19th February 2001 -
(b) sections 99 and 100, with the exception of subsection (4) of section 99 and so much of subsection (3) of section 99 as relates to subsection (4).
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into force, in relation to England, further provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 ("the Act"). Article 2 brings into force the remaining provisions in section 45 of the Act (referendums), the regulation making powers in that section having come into force on 7th August 2000. This article also brings into force all the provisions relating to allowances and pensions for local authority members contained in sections 99 and 100 of the Act, with the exception of the abolition of the attendance allowance which is currently payable under section 18 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989. (This note is not part of the Order) The following provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 have been brought into force by commencement orders made before the date of this Order.
