In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 484 and 569(4) of the Education Act 1996[1] the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education Standards Fund (England) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 12th January 2001. 2. The Education Standards Fund (England) Regulations 2000[2] shall be amended as follows. 3. In regulation 2(1) the following definition shall be inserted at the appropriate place -

In regulation 5(2) the following entries shall be inserted at the end of the table in the left hand and right hand columns respectively -

Schedule 1 shall be amended by inserting after paragraph 53 the following paragraphs -
55. Support for schemes by education authorities to pilot new methods of providing education services."
(This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations further amend the Education Standards Fund (England) Regulations 2000. They add 2 new purposes for or in connection with which grant is payable. The new purposes relate to developing and extending the services offered by maintained nursery schools and schemes by LEAs to pilot new methods of providing education services. They also make consequential amendments to regulations 2(1) and 5(2). Notes: [1] 1996 c. 56; amended by the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (c. 31), Schedule 30, paragraphs 125 and 126. By virtue of the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999 (S.I. 1999/672) the powers conferred by these provisions are exercisable by the Secretary of State only in relation to England.
