ROAD TRAFFIC

The Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2000

  Coming into force 7th November 2000 

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, being a Minister designated[1] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[2] for the regulation of the type, description, construction or equipment of vehicles, and of components of vehicles, and in particular any vehicle type approval scheme, in exercise of the powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and Commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 7th November 2000.

Amendments to Schedule 1 (Separate Directives)
    
2. Schedule 1 to the Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) Regulations 1998[3] shall be further amended in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.

     3.  - (1) In the third and fourth columns of the Table shall be inserted the entries specified below.

    (2) In item 3 (fuel tanks/rear protective devices), after the last entry -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) Regulations 1998.

Regulation 3 inserts references to recent EC Directives in items 3, 12 and 31 in the Table in Schedule 1 to the 1998 Regulations.

Regulation 4 inserts references to recent EC Directives by adding two new items 55 and 56 in that Table.

In line with the 1998 Regulations, the Directives are marked with either a * to denote that they are Commission Directives or a dagger to denote that they are Directives of the European Parliament and the Council.

Copies of the EC Directives referred to in these Regulations can be obtained from the Stationery Office.
