The Wireless Telegraphy (Interception and Disclosure of Messages) (Designation) Regulations 2000

  Laid before Parliament 7th September 2000 
  Coming into force 2nd October 2000 

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5(7)(c) and (12)(c) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949[1] (hereinafter referred to as "the Act") and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations - 

     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Interception and Disclosure of Messages) (Designation) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 2nd October 2000.

    
2. The persons for the time being who hold the respective positions of Chief Executive of the Radiocommunications Agency of the Department of Trade and Industry and Director of the Customer Services Executive of that Agency (and, when they are both absent from the principal establishment of that Agency, any other person for the time being holding the position of a Director of an Executive of that Agency) are hereby designated for the purposes of section 5(7)(c) and (12)(c) of the Act.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations designate the persons for the time being who hold the positions of Chief Executive and Director of the Customer Services Executive of the Radiocommunications Agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (and, when they are both absent from the Agency's principal establishment, any other person for the time being holding the position of a Director of an Executive of the Agency) as persons who may authorise interception and disclosure of wireless telegraphy messages under section 5 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 (c. 54).
