MEDICINES

The Medicines (Sale or Supply) (Miscellaneous Provisions) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2000

As respects England, Scotland and Wales, the Secretary of State concerned with health in England and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and, as respects Northern Ireland, the Minister of Health, Social Services and Public Safety and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 61 and 129(1) and (5) of the Medicines Act 1968[1] or, as the case may be, the powers conferred by those provisions and now vested in them[2], and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, after consulting such organisations as appear to them to be representative of interests likely to be substantially affected by these Regulations pursuant to section 129(6) of that Act, and after taking into account the advice of the Committee on Safety of Medicines and of the Medicines Commission pursuant to section 129(7) of that Act, hereby make the following Regulations: - 

Citation, commencement and interpretation
     1.  - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Medicines (Sale or Supply) (Miscellaneous Provisions) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 9th August 2000.

    (2) In these Regulations, "the principal Regulations" means the Medicines (Sale or Supply) (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 1980[
3].

Amendment of regulation 1(2)(a) of the principal Regulations
     2. In sub-paragraph (a) of regulation 1(2) of the principal Regulations there is inserted, at the appropriate place in the alphabetical order of the entries in that sub-paragraph, the following entries - 

Amendment of Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations
     3. Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations is amended by adding, at the end, the following entries -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend Schedule 1 to the Medicines (Sale or Supply) (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 1980 by inserting a reference to additional classes of person to whom prescription only medicines and pharmacy medicines may be sold by way of wholesale dealing.
