Whereas under Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations the Security Council of the United Nations has, by a resolution adopted on 17th May 2000, called upon Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and all other States to apply certain measures to give effect to a decision of that Council in relation to Eritrea and Ethiopia: Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1 of the United Nations Act 1946[1], is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: Citation, commencement, operation and extent 1. - (1) This Order may be cited as the Eritrea and Ethiopia (United Nations Sanctions) (Overseas Territories) (Amendment) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 14th July 2000. (2) In this Order, "the Order" means the Eritrea and Ethiopia (United Nations Sanctions) (Overseas Territories) Order 2000[2]. (3) This Order shall extend to the following territories -
Bermuda British Antarctic Territory British Indian Ocean Territory British Virgin Islands Cayman Islands Falkland Islands Gibraltar Montserrat Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands St. Helena St. Helena Dependencies South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands Turks and Caicos Islands The UK Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia in the island of Cyprus

Article 3 of the Order shall be amended as follows -
(c) do any act calculated to promote the supply or delivery of";
(b) in paragraph (2), after the reference to (1)(b), there shall be inserted "or (c)".

In article 11(1)(b) of the Order, the word "and" shall be inserted before "any such cargo". (This note is not part of the Order) This Order, made under the United Nations Act 1946, amends the restrictions imposed by the Eritrea and Ethiopia (United Nations Sanctions) (Overseas Territories) Order 2000, pursuant to a decision of the Security Council of the United Nations in its resolution 1298 of 17th May 2000, to restrict acts calculated to promote the supply or delivery of arms and related materiel to any person in Eritrea or Ethiopia.
