LOCAL GOVERNMENT, ENGLAND

The Local Government Act 1999 (Commencement No. 3) (England) Order 2000

  Made 29th June 2000 

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 27(2)(a) of the Local Government Act 1999[1] and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order: - 

Citation
     1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 1999 (Commencement No. 3) (England) Order 2000.

Commencement
    
2. Sections 1(1)(f), (i), (j), 1(2)(d), 1(4)(c) and 2(4) of the Local Government Act 1999 shall come into force on 3rd July 2000.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order brings into force on 3rd July 2000, those provisions in Part I of the Local Government Act 1999 (Best Value) which are not already in force[
2][3]. These are the provisions which make the Greater London Authority (GLA) and its functional bodies best value authorities for the purposes of that Part. The GLA's functional bodies are the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, Transport for London, the London Development Agency and the Metropolitan Police Authority.
