NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Amendment Order 2000

  Made 17th June 2000 
  Laid before Parliament 19th June 2000 
  Coming into force 12th July 2000 

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 11(4)(a) and (c) and 126(3) and (4) of the National Health Service Act 1977[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement, interpretation and extent
     1.  - (1) This Order may be cited as the United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Amendment Order 2000 and shall come into force on 12th July 2000.

    (2) In this Order - 

    "the Authority" means the United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority; and

    (3) This Order extends to England and Wales.

Change of name of the Authority
     2.  - (1) The Authority shall be called United Kingdom Transplant instead of the United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority and, accordingly, in article 2 of the Order for the words "the United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority" there are substituted the words "United Kingdom Transplant".

    (2) The change of name under this Order shall not -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order changes the name of the United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority, a Special Health Authority established under section 11 of the National Health Service Act 1977, to United Kingdom Transplant. It also provides for an increase in the number of members of the Authority.
