The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 11(4)(a) and (c) and 126(3) and (4) of the National Health Service Act 1977[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order: Citation, commencement, interpretation and extent 1. - (1) This Order may be cited as the United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Amendment Order 2000 and shall come into force on 12th July 2000. (2) In this Order -
(3) This Order extends to England and Wales.
(b) be taken as invalidating any instrument (whether made before, on or after the day on which this Order comes into force) which refers to the Authority by its previous name; and all instruments and other documents which refer to the Authority under its previous name shall be construed as referring to it under its new name.
Constitution of the Authority
4. The Authority shall consist of -
(b) not less than four nor more than seven members who are not officers of the Authority, and (c) the Chief Officer of the Authority and not more than four other members who are officers of the Authority provided that the number of members who are officers of the Authority shall not exceed the number of members who are not officers of the Authority.".
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order changes the name of the United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority, a Special Health Authority established under section 11 of the National Health Service Act 1977, to United Kingdom Transplant. It also provides for an increase in the number of members of the Authority.
