The A458 Trunk Road (Shelton Traffic Lights To Churncote Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2000

  Made 3rd May 2000 
  Coming into force 5th June 2000 

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: - 

     1.  - (1) This Order may be cited as the A458 Trunk Road (Shelton traffic lights to Churncote Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 5th June 2000.

    (2) In this Order all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway.

    
2. In this Order - 

      (i) "the plan" means the plan marked "The A458 Trunk Road (Shelton traffic lights to Churncote Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2000, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions and deposited at the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Zone 2/C8, Ashdown House, Victoria Street, London SW1P 6DE."

      (ii) "principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and

      (iii) "the trunk road" means the A458 Trunk Road.

     3. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Order comes into force.

THE SCHEDULE

LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD


The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between the junction with the A5 at Churncote Roundabout (marked "A" on the plan) and the junction with the B4380 at Shelton traffic lights (marked "B" on the plan) and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan, and is approximately 1.87 km in length.
