ROAD TRAFFIC

The GLA Side Roads (City of London) Designation Order 2000

  Laid before Parliament 15th May 2000 
  Coming into force 19th June 2000 

Whereas the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions considers it appropriate for certain roads in the City of London to be GLA side roads in the interests of the management of traffic and the control of the waiting and loading of vehicles on or in the immediate vicinity of GLA roads:

     Now therefore the Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred by section 124A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984[1] hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
     1. This Order may be cited as the GLA Side Roads (City of London) Designation Order 2000 and shall come into force on 19th June 2000.

Designation of GLA side roads
    
2.  - (1) The roads in the City of London specified in the Schedule to this Order are hereby designated as GLA side roads[2].

    (2) The description of a road includes the intersection of that road and any other road that crosses it at the same level.

    (3) In the Schedule "m" means metres.

    (4) In accordance with section 124A(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, 3rd July 2000 is hereby specified as the date on which the designated roads are to become GLA side roads.

     1. Arthur Street between its junction with King William Street (A3) and the common boundary of 10 Arthur Street and 24 to 27 Martin Lane.

     2. Monument Street - 

    (a) (north side) between its junction with King William Street (A3) and a point 7.5m west of the eastern flank wall of 47 King William Street;

    (b) (south side) between its junction with King William Street (A3) and a point opposite the eastern flank wall of 47 King William Street.

     3. Cannon Street (south side) between its junction with King William Street (A3) and a point 32m east of the western flank wall of 116 to 126 Cannon Street.

     4. King William Street (north side) between its junction with Gracechurch Street and a point opposite the party wall of 69 and 70 King William Street.

     5. Alderman's Walk between its junction with Bishopsgate (A10) and a point 5m west of the frontage of 117 Bishopsgate.

    (a) (north side) between its junction with Bishopsgate (A10) and a point opposite the south west flank wall of 35-37 Camomile Street;

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


Section 272 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 inserts a new section 124A into the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 whereby the Secretary of State may designate roads or proposed roads which are to be GLA side roads, for which Transport for London will be the traffic authority. This Order designates the roads in the City of London specified in the Schedule as GLA side roads with effect from 3rd July 2000.
