TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The Employment Relations Act 1999 (Commencement No. 4 and Transitional Provision) Order 2000

  Made 21st February 2000 

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 45 of the Employment Relations Act 1999[1], hereby makes the following Order:

Citation
     1. This Order may be cited as the Employment Relations Act 1999 (Commencement No. 4 and Transitional Provision) Order 2000.

Commencement
    
2. Section 24 of the Employment Relations Act 1999 (Central Arbitration Committee: members) shall come into force on 22nd February 2000.

Transitional provision
    
3. A person holding office immediately before 22nd February 2000 as a member of the Central Arbitration Committee, in accordance with his appointment under section 260 of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992[2], shall be treated on and after that date as if he had been appointed in accordance with that section as amended by section 24 of the Employment Relations Act 1999.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order brings into force, on 22nd February 2000, section 24 of the Employment Relations Act 1999, which relates to the appointment of the members, including the chairman, of the Central Arbitration Committee. It contains a transitional provision relating to existing members of the Committee.
